We’re warning residents about fraudulent text messages claiming to be from banks such as HSBC, Barclays and other major providers.

📩 These messages often say:

Your account has been “locked”

“Suspicious activity” or fraud has been detected

You must click a link urgently to fix the problem

⚠️ Do not click the link and do not reply.
✅ Banks will never ask you to log in, confirm details, or click links via text message.

🔒 Never share PINs, passwords, or one‑time codes
📨 Be cautious of messages creating urgency or fear
📞 If unsure, contact your bank using the number on your bank card or official website
🧑‍💻 Keep your phone and apps up to date to improve security

📲 How to Report

➡️ Forward scam texts to 7726 (free of charge)
➡️ This helps mobile networks block and investigate scam numbers

🚔 If you believe you’ve clicked a link or shared details, contact your bank immediately and report the incident to Action Fraud.
